
Reducing sexual violence is an element of the UK government’s mission to halve violence against women and girls within a decade. Stopping their attacker from perpetrating further sexual violence is also among the most common reasons rape and sexual assault victim-survivors report to the police. Yet, sexual violence prevention is peripheral to policing and policing research. This talk explores routes and barriers to policing becoming an effective mechanism for reducing sexual violence.
