By Train

There are frequent rail services from London (King's Cross and Liverpool Street stations). Journey times vary from 50 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes. For further information regarding train times, 'phone National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50 or visit the National Rail Enquiries website.

Cambridge railway station is situated one mile from the town centre. It's a 30 minute walk from Cambridge railway station to the Institute of Criminology. There is a regular bus service into the town centre, and it's a 15 minute walk from there to the Sidgwick Site. If you prefer, there are usually plenty of taxis available at the station and in the town centre. Ask to be taken to the Institute of Criminology building on the Sidgwick Site.

By Bus or Coach

Drummer Street bus station, and the ajacent Parkside Bus Rank are situated in Cambridge town centre. It's a 15 minute walk from the bus station to the Institute of Criminology, or there are usually plenty of taxis available at the bus station.

Directions to the Institute of Criminology from the M11:

  • Exit the M11 at junction 12.
  • Follow the A603 (Barton Road) eastwards into Cambridge.
  • You should pass Wolfson College on your left and the Hat and Feathers pub on your right.
  • Turn left into Grange Road (just past a pedestrian crossing).
  • Take the second right hand turn into Sidgwick Avenue.
  • Turn left into the University of Cambridge Sidgwick Site, where the Institute of Criminology is located. The Sidgwick site is situated between Sidgwick Avenue, West Road, Queen's Road and Grange Road.
  • Use the on-site maps or use the maps linked to above to locate the Institute building.

Parking is limited and restricted to permit holders only on the Sidgwick Site. It is often possible to find metered street parking near the Institute of Criminology in Sidgwick Avenue, Queen's Road and West Road (4-hour periods are allowed). There are also a number of car parks in the town centre and five Park & Ride sites, the nearest one being on Madingley Road. Further information regarding the Park & Ride can be found on the Cambridgeshire County Council Park & Ride site.
