About
Musa holds an undergraduate degree in Languages and Intercultural Communication from Edinburgh Napier University, where he was awarded the University Medal and Class Medal. In 2023, he completed an MPhil in Criminology at the Cambridge Institute of Criminology, graduating with Distinction. He was subsequently awarded a full doctoral scholarship by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and a Consortium Scholarship by Pembroke College, Cambridge. Beyond Criminology, Musa has contributed to research projects spanning neuroscience, mental health, and public safety. In 2024, he was awarded the New Researcher Award by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Musa further is a grateful recipient of the Jack Merritt Scholarship, awarded by the Cambridge Institute of Criminology and Hughes Hall Cambridge.
Research
Musa's primary research interests are within global perspectives of extremist violence. His MPhil research centred on evaluating terrorist attack data through a case study of Boko Haram terrorism in the Sahel region. Musa's PhD research investigates reductions in violence among high-profile terrorist groups. Using both quantitative and qualitative approaches, he explores attack data and propaganda material.
