Dr Tugba Basaran

Biography:

Tugba Basaran holds a PhD in International Studies from the University of Cambridge. She held visiting researcher positions at Harvard Law, Princeton University, Sciences-Po and the Institute for Advanced Studies and a lecturer position at the University of Kent. Prior to this, she worked for many years in international relations and international development, amongst others as international project manager for international organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean, South-East Europe and Asia.

Research Interests

Her research focuses on (i) international mobility, human rights and the UN Global Compact; (ii) socio-legal analyses to borders, rescue and smuggling; (iii) critical approaches to security in liberal democracies; (iv) international relations and international political sociology; (v) political and postcolonial thought. At the Centre for Global Human Movement, she facilitates interdisciplinary research across the University of Cambridge and ensures global partnerships.
