Research
John's PhD research examines whether coordinated, non-police city government interventions at violent micro-places can reduce street crime and strengthen collective efficacy. His thesis, "Government at the Ground Level: A Randomized Trial of Every Block Counts," evaluates New York City's Every Block Counts program, a cross-agency bundle of environmental remediation, code enforcement, and service linkage at high-harm street segments.
