Biography

Simon is a part-time PhD student.  Simon’s first degree was in Law from the University of Wales in 1996. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Police Science and Management from the University of Portsmouth and a MA in Criminology from Middlesex University.

Simon is a serving Police Officer in the Metropolitan Police and currently works in Counter Terrorism Policing. Since 2012, he has been the Met’s subject matter expert for 'Stop & Search' and he is responsible for training and policy. He has played a prominent role in improving how this contentious power is used in London. In 2020 Simon and his team were awarded the Princess Royal Training Award for innovative Stop & Search training.

Simon is also the Deputy Lead for the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) Children & Young People portfolio and is passionate advocate of Child Centred Policing.

He started his policing career in 1998 in Hackney, East London which involved serving the community of Homerton and is now proud to be part of Homerton College.

 

Research
