Institute of Criminology

Biography

While serving as the director of the Dallas College Law Enforcement Academy (Dallas, Texas USA), Jeff took a part-time MSt in Applied Criminology and Police Management at the Institute of Criminology. He started his part-time PhD in Criminology after he graduated from this MSt course. Interested principally in training and ethics, Jeff is building upon the pilot Randomized Controlled Trials (RCT) he conducted to test whether a visually-based intervention would moderate police cadets’ attitudes toward marginalized persons. Though statistically insignificant, the pilot showed promise.

Jeff’s current research at the Institute of Criminology adds to his previous education and experience in ministry. He previously took a master’s degree and doctorate in theology and ministry at Southern Methodist University (Dallas, Texas USA). In addition to his capacities as a police officer, Jeff has also served as a pastor and a Bible College and Seminary professor. By combining his interests in theology, ethics, criminology and criminological research he hopes to contribute to the field of policing and help better train police for the new world.
