How Hampshire Police Reduced Domestic Abuse: The CARA Experiment’.

Speaker: Professor Lawrence W. Sherman and Dr Heather Strang

5:30 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, 24th  January, Seminar Room B3

In the first randomized trial in 40 years showing police decisions causing a reduction in repeat domestic abuse, the Institute of Criminology recently published an evaluation of the Hampshire CARA project for first offenders.  The speakers explain what they found in the context of previous research, discussing the qualitative observations of offender workshops that help explain the quantitative results.  They also review the policy developments in the first year since the experiment was published.

I hope you can join us. The seminar will be followed by a wine and juice reception. M.Phil., PhD and MSt. students are especially invited to attend, as are Police and Crime Commissioners and police professionals.

Seminars generally take place in B3 from 5.30pm, with refreshments after for attendees
