Visiting Students

Visiting Students

The Institute occasionally accepts Ph.D. students for short visits if they have an academic staff member willing to act in a supervisory capacity for the duration of the visit. It should be emphasised that visiting students are rare, and much depends upon the support of the academic host.

Prospective visiting students are usually already in contact with an Institute academic staff member due to the nature of their research. If this is not the case, the prospective student should review the academic staff profiles and approach the most appropriate person, with a research proposal, proposed visit dates and a CV. If successful at finding a host, the above mentioned papers and an email confirming the prospective host's approval should be sent to:

Assistant to Director
Tel: +44 (0)1223 335369

Prospective students with home institution agreements that would require signature on behalf of the Institute must forward these agreements to their prospective host at the outset. If the academic staff member agrees to host, the home institution documents must be included in the papers sent to the Director's Office for review by the Director.

Prospective visitors are not accepted unless they have an academic host within the Institute.

Working space is very limited and the majority of visitors are accommodated within our Radzinowicz Library. The library is closed for the month of August each year (August dates are available on the library website). If the academic host is able to offer working space from within their space allocation, this should be confirmed to the Director's Office, as it is a factor to be considered during our approval process.

The Institute does not provide funding for visiting scholars.
