Honorary Research Fellow
Formerly Professor of Legal Philosophy at the University of Nottingham, Professor Simester now holds a Chair in Law at
the National University of Singapore. His main interests lie in the fields of criminal law and theory and in legal philosophy more
generally. He has published in these areas in every major common-law jurisdiction. His books include Criminal Law: Theory and Doctrine
(with G.R. Sullivan: 2000, 2003, 2006, 2010); and Principles of Criminal Law (with W.J. Brookbanks: 1998, 2002, 2007); as well as four
edited collections, including Appraising Strict Liability (2005) and Incivilities: Regulating Offensive Behaviour (with A. von Hirsch: 2006).
Most recently, he has completed a monograph, with Andreas von Hirsch, entitled Crimes, Harms, and Wrongs: On the Principles of Criminalisation (2011).
