Passwords


How to Change your passwords

The Crim network, Hermes and Raven passwords are 'case sensitive' (e.g. password is not the same as PassWord). Information about choosing a good password can be found at: http://www.cam.ac.uk/cs/docs/infosheets/is6/.

Crim:

Log in to your account and press the keys ControlAlt and Delete together, then select the button 'Change password'. You will be prompted for your old and new passwords.

UIS Password (Raven, Hermes, Desktop Services (DS))

Use the UIS Password Management Application (https://password.csx.cam.ac.uk) to change the following types of password:


Note: If you still use separate passwords for Raven, Hermes and Desktop Services, changing any one of them using the UIS Password Management Application will replace them ALL with a single UIS Password.  

Remote Access to PWF Linux

From a command prompt, login using SSH to 'linux.pwf.cam.ac.uk'. Type 'passwd' and follow the instructions. You will be prompted for your old and new passwords.

If you forget your password


Crim Password

If you forget your Crim Password after you have changed it, please contact the IT Officer in Room 2.10 or telephone 01223 (7)62988 (only use the last 5 digits when using the University phone system).


UIS Password (Raven, Hermes, Desktop Services (DS))

If you forget your UIS Password (or any of the following services if you use individual passwords; Raven, Hermes or DS)

Students

Please come visit the IT Officer in Room 2.10 bringing your Photo ID see Cambridge Lookup for a list of current password resetters at the Institute of Criminology

You will be issued a ‘Password Reset Token’ which can be redeemed at the UIS Password Management Application (https://password.csx.cam.ac.uk) by selecting ‘Use Token’

Alternativley, you can visit your College’s Password resetters bringing proof of identity with you;

Fitzwilliam College Password Resetters

Wolfson College Password Resetters

If the first two options are not avialable, you can call into Computing Service Reception on the New Museums Site to collect a new one (Computing Service location HERE), bringing proof of identity with you. If you cannot physically visit the Computing Service you may try ringing them on +44 (0)1223 334600 to see if they can assist you over the phone.
